Route in the neighborhoods of the Upper - New York City

Below is a selection of addresses. The target is family. The goal is to offer you a few places that are accessible to the family or that are quite typical of the neighborhood.

Regarding restaurants, I also tried to select places that were not too expensive.

This New York institution now offers snack formulas with soups, paninis, bagels  This delicatessen specializing in superior quality smoked fish offers a colossal choice of cheeses, pastries, cold cuts, coffee ... Recommendation: have a picnic in Central Park.

Small cafe offering snacks at more affordable prices than the restaurant of the same name.

  • Sourdough Bakery

351 amsterdam Ave.

Not to be missed if you want to taste one of the best cookies in NYC. Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. They are delicious. On the other hand, do not hesitate to share them, they are very dense.

  • Daily bread 

East 72nd St and 5th Ave, (Central Park next to Conservatory Water).

Sandwiches, waffles ... You buy your snack at Pain Quotidien and you sit near the pond to eat it. It's perfect !

  • The Loeb Boathouse

Park Drive North, E 72nd St, 

(in Central Park, near Bethesda Fountain)

It is not cheap but it is the occasion of a meal well installed in Central Park at the edge of the water. A children's menu is available.

  • Tavern on the Green

67th Street & Central Park West ,

Originally designed as a sheepfold, Tavern on the Green was transformed into a restaurant in 1934. The place is sumptuous, especially if you are lucky enough to be able to be outside. Obviously, everything has a price. A children's menu is available.

  • Tacombi

377 Amsterdam Ave.

This small restaurant chain offers Mexican cuisine in places with a very friendly atmosphere. Perfect for a family meal. Just be careful not to choose something too spicy for the kids.

If you are looking for a burger with good value for money, Shake Shack should be your thing.

Self-service city bikes. ideal with older children. (obviously, there are addresses all over NYC)

  • Metropolitan museum of art

1000 5th Ave.

One of the largest art museums in the world.

Normally, there are regular tours with an English speaking guide "Highlights Tour". Great way to get a little glimpse of the museum. And don't miss the Rooftop to enjoy a view of Central Park.

  • American museum of natural History

Central Park W & 79th St.

Fabulous museum of natural history with its unmissable dinosaurs, its giant whale, these stuffed mammals, ... It just imposes the need to organize the visit because it is so large.

Excellent museum to RE-discover the history of NY.
